The linear en-suite project formed part of the Frost & Nicholls renovation project to offer the client a more functional use of space to maximize the footprint on offer with existing rooms removed. No direct natural light via any windows, only by door entry, and the wall of glass hallway aspect. A very defined space needed to incorporate a large shower, wash basin, storage cupboards,W.C and heated towel rail.
With no mains waste the linear en-suite project waste element was preconceived to take this into consideration when the draft plans were drawn up. Mains fed water and heating also had to run via “The Cube“ project as the rooms were inter- connecting. New 17th edition electrics throughout the build phase along with new plumbing terminated at applicable reception points. With the mains feeds and new electrical elements in place extraction ducting was put in place exiting to an external wall before the room was closed up.
Stud walls adapted to take flush mounted wall storage units and floating wash basin storage units were put in place prior to close up. A slim line WC was sourced as space was at a premium and with the mains waste issues to deal with it was agreed to use a “Saniflow” system.
Black composite shower tray 1200 x 800cm was purchased along with a black Triton mixer shower system. The choice of porcelain tiles dictated the glazed aspect of this room, long slim rectangles off a 90o corner, frosted to offer privacy but big enough to offer a natural source of light. Fanal 30 x 85cm Porcelain tiles were chosen Compact Ivory for the wall and main en-suite area walls complimented with Fanal 30 x 85cm Compact Anthracite for the shower cubicle. The tiles offer the linear feel the client required but the style of the tile also offered that industrial contemporary look.
The two aspect glazed corner window would be inset with colour changing LED strip lights to offer an array of stylish mood lighting. IP rated white down lights where installed along with a run on extraction unit. Glass water fall tap and glass shower door were sourced from Victoria Plumb to complete the stylish linear look.
